Beta-caryophyllene (BCP)

Beta-caryophyllene (BCP)

Beta-caryophyllene (BCP) is a pungent terpene commonly found in black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, oregano, and cannabis; and is approved as a natural flavoring agent by the FDA. Recently, it was demonstrated that beta-caryophyllene actively binds to the endocannabinoid receptor CB2. Through the activation of the CB2 endocannabinoid receptor, beta-caryophyllene has been demonstrated in research studies to have a number of impacts on cellular and metabolic systems including: antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, improved wound healing, neuroprotective, anti-cancer and analgesic. In addition, beta-caryophyllene decreased neuropathic pain associated with chemotherapy, diabetes, and chronic nerve damage.
